What's happening in the Irish Aid Centre this Autumn?
4/9/13Here at the Irish Aid Volunteering and Information Centre we are busy preparing for an exciting month ahead.
Our upcoming events in September include a number of information sessions for volunteers, a photo exhibition on “Women and the City”, a book launch and the launch of the Irish Aid 2012 annual report.
Our workshops for second-level students also begin again in September. These 90 minute workshops include film footage, a tour of the Centre, an interactive food security activity and information about the work of Irish Aid. The workshops are aimed at CSPE and Transition Year students and if you would like to make a booking for your class, please contact the coordinator, Ruth Powell on 01 854 69 32.
We are also looking forward to attending the 2013 National Ploughing Championship in Ratheniska, Co. Laois in order to highlight and explain the work of Irish Aid. Quizzes, mask-making and drumming workshops will all be on offer and we will also be available to answer general questions on development as well as on volunteering opportunities.
Finally, we are also beginning to prepare for the 2013 Irish Aid Volunteering Fair which will take place in the Irish Aid Centre on Sat. 12th October 2013 (11am-4pm). This fair will showcase volunteering options in a variety of developing countries and over 20 volunteer sending organisations will give their advice and presentations detailing the application process and their personal experiences.
For further information on events please follow the events section of our website.
The Centre is open from 10.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday if you would like to drop-in to ask the guides a question, to view the exhibitions or just to say hello! Anyone interested in booking an event is welcome to contact Ruth Powell on 01 854 69 32. We look forward to seeing you soon.
