Opening Ceremony at Liseli Lodge by Minister of State Ciaran Cannon T.D.

It is my great pleasure to be here today on behalf of the Government of Ireland, and to express my support for the work that Irish people have provided to the Cheshire Home Mongu for many years, and to mark the support recently provided by the Irish Embassy in Lusaka to the Home.

This morning I had the opportunity to meet with the Provincial Minister, as well as to view the Rhino Building Projects Limited. I am delighted to have the opportunity now to officially open Liseli Lodge, which is a culmination of work done for many years. Sr. Cathy Crawford has been at the helm of this work and she deserves a huge amount of credit, as well as a big thank you for all her efforts in making this Lodge possible.

Ireland is very pleased to be able to support this project. I understand that Liseli lodge has become an important part of the community infrastructure, and is already making a profit, thereby ensuring the long term sustainability of the Home. Again, this is to the great credit of Sr Cathy and all those involved in the running of this Lodge.
